Emotions are hard for Face - they mean admitting a vulnerability, opening himself up to the chance to fail and ruin everything. It's easier, safer to be skin deep.

When he smiles again, it's diminished but genuine - the mingling of desire and emotion.

"I hope so." He knows he doesn't say it enough and half the time when he does, it doesn't sound as genuine as it is.
