Day 3: I Love It When A Wedding (and a plan) Comes Together

There was no doubt about it, Mel/Mia was definitely in on the gig, between the gun and fake documents stored in her cabin and a key to what could only be a storage locker they had more than enough evidence to take her down hard.

Problem was, she didn't strike either of them as the leader of the operation - she was sweet, pretty, just the sort of con Face was the master of. Which usually meant there was a boss pulling the strings. With less than twenty-four hours before dock, it was hard to focus on getting ready for the wedding when he was going over every face on the boat they'd met in the last two days. Between the two of them, they'd practically been social butterflies - making best friends of most of the boat.

They're taking in some last minute time by the pool pretending to go over their vows only a couple hours before the altar, going over the plan if they can only nab half the pair.

"We'll flush her out," Face shakes his head, pushing up off his towel and stretching enough to make his small speedo even more scandalous. "Have Hannibal and BA grab Mia and then make a run for the hold - assuming the guns are in the hold."

Which is a big assumption.

Swallowing back another rough lump, not even sure which is putting it there - pleasure or emotions - he shakes his head against Murdock's cheek.

"Not yet, baby... hold back... I need it... you... just wait..."

Barely restraining a low moan against his ear, Face lets himself move faster and harder against him, rocking his hips until his body flushes hot and he can't even hold himself back any more.

He holds out as long as he can, but it's not longer before he's letting himself go, feeling the wetness between them.

"God, I love you..."

Pushing himself just a little longer past the pleasant burn of over sensitive nerves firing on all cylinders, Face finally gives at the panting words against the side of his head - letting himself stop still lingering inside him, wrapped around him and almost afraid to let go.

"I know..." he whispers, kissing Murdock's ear and holding him even tighter, "I love you too."

He wants to say he's sorry for every time his eyes have wandered, for every bad thing he's ever done and all the things he knows he will do - to confess and apologize and beg forgiveness just to make that moment pure and right. Instead, he whispers again; "I love you."

He tenses as at the familiar feeling, eventually letting himself relax as Face's weight settles on top of him.

"Shh," he soothes. "I know."

It's a long moment before he even moves, just letting himself relax against the soothing rumble of Murdock's voice as he comes back down again. Finally, a knock on the door drags him out of his daze and he lifts his head just enough to murmur; "If that's Hannibal I'm gonna kill him."

"Wrong room," he calls out to whoever it is, burrowing closer to Face's side. "No one here but us dust bunnies."

It comes again, a little more curtly, with what could only be code. "He's tapping 'open now'. I'm gonna hurt him." Face whispers, lifting his head up with a slight smile that only shows a hit of red wet eyes. "Go clean up, I'll handle the boss."

Not even bothering with the decency of a towel, he stumbles up on his feet, wiping off with a tissue beside the bed on his way to the door.

"We're kind of busy," he groans with a nonplussed eyebrow when he opens the door halfway into a morse code lecture about opening doors. "If you don't mind, I've got... oooh... cake..."

"You've got at least ten minutes before second wind." Hannibal frowns, only slightly, and hands over a large plate-sized slab with two forks stuck in it. "You could have grabbed a towel."

"You could have waited five minutes."

Hannibal's frown quirks to a near grin and he shook his head; "You're shameless."

"You're going to let us resume our honeymoon." Face smirks, licking his lower lip.

For a moment, Hannibal's silent - taking note of the dark shadows and pink irritation of his Lieutenant's eyes - and then he nods slowly. "As you were. Leave him fit for flying tomorrow, got it?"

"No worries, boss. Doctor Love's on duty."

He hears the door shut from the bathroom, where he's cleaning off and getting ready for round two.

"You are a shameless exhibitionist. What'd Hannibal want?"

"Nothing he hasn't seen before..." Face shrugs, already shoveling a bite into his mouth; "at least this time he knocked first."

There was a time he was pretty sure it was the colonel's job to catch him in the act with random pick-ups. It was kinda fun... for him, at least.

Licking away a stray dab of frosting at the corner of his lip, he answers; "Fuel for our second wind."

"Lucky he didn't show up a few minutes earlier. That coulda been bad."

He leaves the bathroom, still unashamedly naked. Because love means never having to apologize for not wearing pants.

"Huh, weird. Wouldn't imagine he'd show up unless he wanted something."

Maybe it's his way of saying he's happy for them. Or maybe he just wanted to give them the damn cake. Who knows.

"Aw, you started without me?"

"As always, there's plenty where that came from..." his voice drops to a soppy purr and he wraps an arm around his partner's waist before dropping down into a large chair - balancing the heavy plate on one hand while the other pulls Murdock into his lap.

"I haven't smashed any in your face yet."

He sighs happily, nuzzling against Face's chest as they get comfortable.

"Can't let a time-honored tradition go to waste."

It's something they rarely get the chance to do, comfortably sharing space in a naked but (mostly) nonsexual way - simply existing together.

It's nice.

"I prefer new traditions," he murmurs, gathering up a forkful before wiping it across Murdock's lips - kissing away the mildly sweet frosting before he can react.

His tongue darts out, licking against his lips as they both savor the sweet taste.

"Mmm." He pulls away slightly, smiling as he looks up into the blue eyes he's come to love so much. "Kinda figured you might."

The corners of his lips crease when he smiles, and for a second he can't help but look away - still feeling just a little too raw for a flippant come back.

Instead, when he looks back he manages; "Not a bad wedding day, decent ceremony - getting to nab the bad girls at our reception and still get cake."

"Pretty much the best day ever."

Certain events are still weighing on his mind though, and judging by his reactions Face is pretty shaken up by them too. It's not too hard to read his emotions in his eyes once you know to look past the surface, and he knows him well enough to see what he doesn't want him to.

"What happened by the pool earlier?"

He's not mad, really... just a little upset, and confused.

Hiding in plain sight is easy enough - but when the eyes know where to look and have mapped out your weak spots, it's more like tap dancing on a minefield.

Face's warmth fades slightly and he offers a half-shrug, finishing another bite of cake.

"A little swim, most of my base tan. You hit that investment banker with a pool noodle when he told you that there weren't any floaties."

He resists the urge to laugh.

"Not what I mean and you know it. I saw that guy hitting on you."

He sighs, more from frustration than anything else as he scoops up another forkful of cake.

"And I also saw you walk away from him, so can we just talk about it?"

Of course that. That stupid thing that he doesn't want to think about because he was good, he was a stand-up guy and did the right thing. Even if he kind of feels like a shit for considering it.

"What?" He plasters on an innocent grin; "There's nothing to talk about. Believe it or not, you married a very handsome man."

Ego notwithstanding.

"Templeton, if you keep tryin' to avoid the issue, I really will shove this cake in your face."

It's a ridiculous threat and he actually has to bite his lip to keep from laughing this time, but they really do need to deal with it.

"Whatshername, Fiona... She called you a heartbreaker. You acted like it didn't bother you but I can tell it did."

"What issue? There's no issue." His smile wilts slightly, but he's trying not to let it get to him, he really is.

"One, that chick was a con - and not a very good one - who knew who I am. Two - what, do you really think I could have done something let alone would have?"

He sighs again. This isn't getting them anywhere.

I know nothing happened. I'm not mad about any of this." He snuggles closer to him, wishing it was easier to make himself understood. "I'm only pushing 'cause you seem mad at yourself."

He loves and trusts this man with all his heart, and it kind of hurts to know that he feels unworthy of that trust.

In his mind, there's no feeling about it - he is unworthy of trust. Anyone's.

He shifts back against the chair slightly, just enough to feel Murdock's weight settle on him even deeper. There's no fight to be had there and he knows it, it's just not something he could even begin to explain.

"I'm not mad at myself. I'm happy. We had a job, we did the job - and we got to have a lot of fun along the way. For once something the boss said would be easy actually was."

He shakes his head, pressing another frosting-smeared kiss to his lips.

"You almost cried," he points out after a moment. "During sex. Like, three times."

It's not that he minds - rather the opposite, in fact - but something's dragging those feelings to the surface and he hates that they can't talk about it.

It was pretty emotional for him and he can honestly say it's not something that's ever happened before.

"I wasn't crying." He replies quietly, "Sweat got in my eyes."
