Built A Better Bear (For Love!)

He's been trying, and he knows Murdock has been trying too, but the longer the rift between them continues the more Face feels like it'll never end.

The idea had come to him watching Murdock fret over a small pile of stuffed animals at a thrift store - again - coming back empty handed when none of them "fit" with his current plush posse. Something special, something they could do together where there was no pressure to be romantic, but Murdock would know that he meant it as a genuine gesture.

Which is exactly what had led him to The Build-A-Bear workshop on a Saturday morning when it was overrun with children and exasperated parents with Murdock staring out the windshield as they pulled in.

"Surprise?" He smiles softly, looking at him from the driver's seat as he nervously taps his rings against the steering wheel - still getting used to the weight of wearing them again, if nothing as a reminder to himself.

"Yeah... that works." He sighs at the penetration, meeting his lover's eyes as he kisses him.

"Something like that." He murmurs, filling him slowly - taking his time with it and not just because it feels like his body's trembling with each push.

Letting his weight shift almost fully against his partner, it's literally as close as they possibly can be, punctuated with the gentle rock of his hips and slide of Murdock's hairy chest against his.

"Better?"

"Yeah...." he sighs, moving along with his rhythm. "Missed this."

It's something they can savor, making love.

"Missed you," he purrs, flushing hot against Murdock's skin.

He'll savor it as often as he can. They may have to be dragged out of bed.

"It's okay... I'm here."

Letting himself move faster, Face wraps his arms around Murdock's shoulders - holding him tight.

"Could do this all night," he laughs, kissing him tenderly again. He doubts it, but it makes his ego feel good to make the claim.

"Probably not. We skipped dinner."

He grins, reaching up to affectionately ruffle his hair again. "I'm sure you'll try, though."

Soft, familiar fingers tug at his hair and it's all he can do to maintain his composure - it's easily the cutest makeup sex he's ever had if nothing else.

"Unless you want me to stop..." he slows his gentle pushing experimentally, waiting for the go-ahead to continue.

Sex with Murdock tends to be cute. When it's not mildly strange.

"God, don't you dare." He nudges his side, squeezing him tighter to spur him on.

His smile stretches again, and with a renewed sureness he picks up the pace - pushing himself to keep out of the frenzied thrusts his body is telling him he needs.

That's not what it's about now, it's about being together.

"Jesus..." he groans against kiss-bruised lips, his fingers curling on Murdock's shoulder.

They've been holding each other at arm's length for so long it feels like finding an oasis in the middle of a desert.

"Love you, babe."

Not for lack of trying, of course, but the time wasn't right. Now, he understands, it can be.

A choked moan closes his throat and it takes him a moment to ease himself back for a soft; "Never get sick of hearing that."

"Won't ever get tired of sayin' it."

He looks him in the eyes, somewhat out of breath.

"That's a promise. I love you."

Tender, shaking, he doesn't stop his easy thrusts when he focuses his eyes on Murdock's face - part of him always wanting to remember that singular devotion. That love.

As if he could forget.

"Promise..." he moans, slowly halting inside him as he crests again, weaker than before.

He holds him tightly as he comes down, panting against his chest.

"Always and forever, baby."

Still shaking, he pants against Murdock's chest until the throb slows to a pleasant ache. Then his arms squeeze even tighter around him.

"We're gonna be all right."

"Gonna be better than alright. Even if you can't see it yet."

Unconcerned with his own pleasure at the moment, he sighs happily as he nuzzles against him.

Sliding just to his side, Face returns the gentle nuzzle - pressing small kisses to the curve of his jaw.

"I know, man... I know."

He's happy to just enjoy the closeness for now, with no pressure for anything more.

"Can we call out for takeout in a bit? Kinda worked up an appetite there."

"Read my mind..." he grins, nipping at his ear. "I'm thinking enough Chinese food to feed a small army? Maybe afterward a nice steamy shower..."

He chuckles, tilting his head to kiss him on the nose.

"Now that is the kind of plan I like."
