Alone Time

Alone time is rare at best, and as he clutches the co-pilot's seat of the salvaged Cessna - only a little nervous each time Murdock tries a trick - the fact that they're getting almost a whole day to themselves is more or less the best thing on his mind. They're on a job, of course - they're coming more frequently over the last few months and while the pay seems to be lower at least it's keeping them moving since their close call back in Chicago - but he'll take what he can get.

Even if what he can get is spending the night together in a lean-to in the backwoods of southern Oregon with a few sleeping bags and a cooler while they wait for the boss' call to pick up the other half of the team in northern California. It's still nice to have a little downtime.

"Believe me, baby..." he purrs, nosing against his scruffy cheek. "If I'd engineered this - we'd be in nice hotel right now."

Somewhere with heavy blankets and room service and really big TV.

"Hmm, true. It's not like you need an excuse to stick your hands down my pants."

He scoots a bit closer, pressing right in against him.

"Guess we'll just have to take what we can get, huh babe?"

He'd roll on top of him if he thought he could without drowning him, instead he slides his hands out until the cup the easy slope of Murdock's ass with a tight squeeze.

"I'll take any excuse I can get."

"You usually do."

He kisses him on the nose before leaning in for a real kiss on the lips.

"... I think what we're getting is hypothermia if we stay in here much longer."

He splashes him again to make the point.

Letting the kiss linger, warm lips and tongue despite the cold, he sighs at the obvious remark.

"Sure, spoil the fun..." He grins, withdrawing his hands only to push up on his feet and offer his hand. "Come on, we'll go dry off in the sun."

"You wouldn't like it if I had to fly your ass to the ER," he points out.

"I can think of some fun ways to warm up."

He's probably had worse things happen to him.

Face grins wide, hefting Murdock up just enough to lean him over his shoulder to carry him out of the water.

"Now you're speaking my language." Unless it involves a campfire and s'mores. That's more Murdock's language.

That's in the plans for later. Right now he's definitely on Face's wavelength.

"See, we get each other."

Mostly, anyway. Definitely more than anyone else gets them. He gasps, laughing as Face picks him up and drags him to the shore.

It's a nice feeling, to be working along the same path. Murdock might come on out of left field sometimes but it's easy enough to adjust.

Just he enjoys the excited gasp against his ear and the clammy chilled skin against skin.

"How warm are we talking?" He grins, finding a sunny grassy spot between the trees to set Murdock down.

"Depends on exactly what you had in mind." He grins wickedly as he's laid down on the ground.

That teasing grin just isn't fair, Murdock. In practical retaliation, Face strips off the soaked briefs leaving him naked & cold in the wild.

"It's uh... It's still cold." He flushes slightly, running a hand over certain areas that may have shrunk in the wash.

"We can fix that," he chuckles, pulling him down to lie beside him. It's almost overwhelming sometimes, how much he loves this man.

"This might not be the nicest place we've ever stayed, but I gotta say I like the view."

The trees and mountains rising up around them are nice, but as buries his face against his warm throat, it's clear for the moment he's only got eyes for his man.

After several eager kisses, Face props himself up on one elbow and says; "Can't take my eyes off it."

Let alone his right hand that's opening the wet denim fly.

"You're just too good to be true," he croons, tone somewhere between silly and sincere.

Face's hand on his pants shuts him up rather quickly.

[notjustaface]

Pitching his voice up slightly, Face jumps in; "Can't take my eyes off of you..." He's not exactly trying to shut him up - just once you get his mind going one way he can be a little tough to derail.

He tugs open the fly and pushes down the denim - letting Murdock take care of the more difficult part of peeling off wet jeans while he rubs gentle circles on his cold belly.

"You'd be like heaven to touch... and I want to hold you so much."

The belly rub warms and calms him more than the song, though he'll always love their duets.

"Love it when you sing to me."

He finishes wriggling out of the jeans, setting them aside to dry out.

Face just can't help raking his fingers through the thatch of soft curls, scritching gently.

"I know you do, baby."

It's as romantic as anything else, feeling the scrape of grass against his bare skin as he wriggles into a comfortable position.

Somewhat surprisingly for southern Oregon, the sun is peeking out from behind the hills. It's a nice day for spending outdoors with the person you love.

"I'm glad you're here."

It's not exactly what he means to say, but he can't quite find the words for everything he's feeling. Especially with Face's one-track mind set on distracting him.

"No way the boss would have sent you alone..." he laughs, knowing full and well what Murdock means.

His fingers continue to tease slightly, barely stroking his fingers over the curve of Murdock's belly.

"I'm glad I'm here too."

[notthatcrazy]

"I mean... here."

He takes Face's hand, placing it over his heart where the chain with his rings on it still hangs.

"Not to get all serious on ya or anything."

He'd noticed them, of course - tried not to notice them in all truth. It was conflicting and just a little terrifying to think about how serious Murdock was about it. Not that he wasn't serious himself... just in a significantly less visible way.

Still, his smile warms and he traces the silver and then the gold - silent a long moment before quietly answering; "I know."

His fingers slide outward along his chest. "Me too"

He's never doubted his seriousness, even if he doesn't wear the rings. He didn't really expect him to, it's a step he's not ready for yet. He keeps them close, most of the time, and that's good enough for him.

"Sorry, didn't mean to spring that on ya."

He leans in for a kiss, taking things back to a level they're both okay with.

It's a step he may never be fully ready for, but it'll come. Eventually.

He deepens the kiss, tasting the in-flight Cheetos and Coke on his tongue as his brain digs for anything that might make the moment a little less awkward.

When he breaks away with a soft sigh, he says; "It's okay..." He nuzzles against Murdock's cheek; "I love you."

"I know."

He sighs, content to settle in his arms for the foreseeable future.

"You know how much I love you, right?"

[notjustaface]

"You make it pretty obvious, man." He teases; "I'm pretty sure everyone knows. And you know... that's okay."

His palm slides down to linger on Murdock's side, purposefully tracing right over his most ticklish spot.
